Server Directives
Many features can be controlled without ever logging into webmail,
using nothing but email messages from your favorite email client
to send commands to the server to control your account. You can
update lists and change settings, and you will get a status message
in reply, all using email messages, no web.
The "commands" alias is a reserved destination for
users to control their own accounts. Any messages sent to this alias
from anyone else are discarded and no reply is sent.
To use this feature, you must send command messages from your
own account. They must also originate from our servers,
and there is further validation to ensure that the message is authentic
before any action is taken. There is no support for users to send
directives from any other email account (with the exception that
parents can send directives to
control their children's accounts as well).
If the message is validated, and it is properly formatted, then the
server server will perform the requested action and send a status message
to the user.
These features are documented on all of the pages
that support them, and currently you can do the following by sending a
command message to a reserved alias "commands" that is only available
to the owner of the account, i.e. commands@username.cotse.net, with
the commands in the subject line.
Instructions:
The following list of examples should be self-explanatory as to the
function they serve. If you have questions, please email
heldpesk with your questions so we may better serve you.
[un]whitelist sender white@white.com
[un]whitelist alias white@username.cotse.net
[un]whitelist text no quotes needed for phrases
[un]whitelist subject no quotes needed
[un]goldlist sender gold@gold.com
[un]goldlist alias gold@username.cotse.net
[un]goldlist text no quotes needed for phrases
[un]goldlist subject no quotes needed
[un]blacklist sender black@black.com
[un]blacklist alias black@username.cotse.net
[un]blacklist text no quotes needed for phrases
[un]blacklist subject no quotes needed
[un]blacklist ip 1.2.3.4
After the command is handled, you will receive a status message
indicating success or explaining why it failed.
This feature supports wildcards for email addresses (senders,
domains, and aliases) and IP addresses. It does not support
wildcards for keywords (message or subject text). For example:
[un]blacklist sender black@black.com
[un]blacklist alias black@username.cotse.net
[un]blacklist text no quotes needed for phrases
[un]blacklist subject no quotes needed
[un]blacklist ip 1.2.3.4
NOTE: We will soon be releasing added functionality to this feature
- it is still in development at this time.
